Backup Jobs - Overview

A Backup Job defines which files should be copied to the Amazon Simple Storage system.  You can create jobs for various data such as Images or Music or Accounting files, etc.  Optionally, you can also create just one simple backup job to take all of the contents of your local drive(s) up to storage.

General

Creating backup jobs are quick and easy in Backazon.  Once a job is created, it will run automatically in the background without worry.  Use the Quick Pick option to quickly collect files such as your My Documents folder, your My Music folder and so on.  Use the Detailed Picks page to isolate certain files for backup.

Quick Picks

Quick Picks is a great way to select files that are typical to a home user.  The check boxes are already defaulted to search the most common areas of your computer to find files for storage.  You can quickly select common folders such as 'My Documents', My Music, My Pictures and so on.  You also have the opportunity to exclude any files such as Windows System files or Temporary Internet file folders.

Detailed Picks

In Detailed Picks, you can 'drill down' into the file structure of your computer and select folders and files for backup, that are outside of the more common folders such as My Documents or My Music folders.

Schedule

Scheduling your backup to run, is the last part of creating a backup job.  Once your Quick and Detailed file selections are made, Backazon will automatically 'run' this backup job at the day and time you've scheduled.

Summary

The Backup Job Summary is designed to show you exactly what your backup bundle will cost to upload and store at the Amazon data centers. This is a great way to review how cost effective backing up online can be!

Summary tab

Looking at the summary view, the job information is displayed at the top of the form with dates, sizes and colored indicators to tell you if the files were processed.  Green and Green tell you that the files were copied up to the Amazon Servers with success.   The details include size and cost of the transmission.

List View tab

Within the Log Viewer, there are a few options to examine your files, the status of their transmission and the file details.  One place would be in the List View.  At a glance, you can see the results of the file transmissions.  To expand the view and details of each file, use the Tree Viewer.

Tree View tab

The Tree View tab shows you file specifics such as file Name, Path location (where on your computer it came from), Status of the transmission and size information.  If a file(s) failed the backup job, the tree view is a great place to revisit the details of that file and see WHY it failed.
